These Drinks Cause Hair Loss in Men, According to a New Study

Some drinks can have a negative impact on hair health, especially for men.

Some people go gray but keep their hair well into old age. Others start losing their hair at an early age. It is thought that the lifespan of our hair depends on our genetic predisposition. But there might actually be more to it than just that, with lifestyle factors and nutrition playing a part

A recent study has shown that a special diet and healthy eating can help strengthen hair. Chinese researchers from Tsinghua University in Beijing have discovered that drinking too many sugary beverages can be an additional factor that negatively affects hair. Sugary drinks include juices, sodas, energy drinks, and even sweetened coffee and tea.

They analyzed data from 1,028 men aged 18 to 45, with an average age of 27.8 years. To gather information about their hair condition, as well as their dietary and drinking habits, the volunteers had to fill out questionnaires asking about their lifestyle and preferences.

The researchers found that men who drank a sugary beverage daily were, on average, 30 percent more likely to experience hair loss than men who did not drink sugary beverages and replaced them with water. The scientists concluded that hair loss particularly affects young men who frequently consume sugary drinks.

However, it is unclear whether the habit of drinking sugary beverages plays a decisive role or is just one of many causes. This study highlights the importance of being aware of the wider health implications of dietary choices for overall health. Hair loss can also be attributed to other lifestyle factors such as dietary habits or stress. Additionally, the researchers note that the study only included Chinese men, so it is uncertain if similar trends would be observed among men from other countries.

High sugar consumption can have other negative health effects, leading to skin problems, metabolic disorders, and an increased risk of cardiovascular diseases. It is best to drink plenty of water throughout the day to keep the body hydrated, and reduce overall sugar intake throughout the day.
