You Will Soon Be Able to Customize the Theme of Your WhatsApp Chats!

WhatsApp is expanding its customization options! Soon, users will be able to change the theme of the messaging app, including the color of chat bubbles, similar to Telegram.

WhatsApp is one of the most popular messaging platforms, thanks to its simple interface, strong security, and a wide range of features that continue to grow. However, it has lagged behind competitors when it comes to personalization. Currently, users can only choose between light and dark modes, or change the chat wallpaper with an image or photo. There's no option to customize the color of chat bubbles, icons, or tabs, leading some users to turn to other apps. 

However, Meta, WhatsApp's parent company, is working to give users more control over customization. In August, hints of this were discovered in the beta version of the Android app. Now, in the beta version 2.24.20.12 of the Android app, the site WABetaInfo has tested the new feature that allows users to change the theme of chat bubbles, much like what Telegram offers!

This new customization feature will offer various themes, currently, there are eleven available. Selecting a theme will change not only the chat bubble colors but also the chat background to create a cohesive look. However, users can still choose to change the background independently from the bubble color.

As of now, this default chat theme will apply to all conversations, but there may be an option in the future to set different themes for each chat. Unlike Telegram, which allows users to create their own theme with a color palette, WhatsApp's feature is less flexible. For group chats, the theme will only be visible to the user who set it. This feature is still under development but is expected to roll out for both iOS and Android in an upcoming update.

Additionally, a small improvement has been made to dark mode. Instead of just switching between light and dark, a slider will allow users to choose an option between. 

By adding customization features, WhatsApp is following the trend of messaging apps that give users more control over their interface. This is great news, especially for people with visual impairments or those who need specific colors for personal comfort.
