Can't get desktop speakers to work after defrag

ive tried to install a few different drivers for my speakers...but two of them wern't even successful and the one that was...now i cant find.
i'm wondering if i accidentially uninstalled something vital before my defrag.

any help?

We need the make and model of your computer and the version of Windows.

Typically, there is a number on the case of the computer, that will identify the computer. One of mine is old, and it has a 3100 on it. It is a dell.
