What caused my monitor go to sleep?

Hello,

First I started to restore my computer. It pointed to repair your computer in safe mode. In the night I turned off my computer and the next morning I turned it on. The the monitor went to sleep. The keyboard does not work, neither does the mouse. While the HD power starts to signal in red when I turn on it. What caused this?
