Hi ,
So first of all for your pendrive problem it may be because of your adminstrators settings .
Try formatting the pendrive from another computer or another Os. also please note that some pendrives has some protected options remove all protections and also if you are using windows whenever an application is open from the pendrive you will not able to format it till the application is completely closed down.
For your Disc problem maybe you have only a cd reader or the dvd you are trying to read has been written on a specific speed.52x
try another dvd.:)
