Hey ebony,
Just relax, You have windows XP and you installed itunes, got your ipod connected and you try transferring some music. I think u missed something, you didnt update itunes and even you didnt update your ipod when it asked you! Please make sure to update all the software and even your ipod it will take some times but let the process to be done or else you will have problems to transfer your music.
