Trouble re-starting and turning ON

Hello,
I have problem re-starting and turning ON my VGN-CR35g/b laptop computer with the portable external hard disk. Before it was working properly without removing it. This problem arise when I restoring my audio system, but still did not worked until I decide to reformat the whole operating system to resolve those problem and yet still not worked! I guess my portable external hard disk is damage so I check it to another laptop computer and see if the other computer will not re-start/turn ON with this portable external hard disk, but it's properly work.
After all this things done still I've been in trouble. Please any body could help me. Thanks!
