The only version of yahoo messenger, i know about is for Red Hat.. but you can use Gaim to connect and chat on Yahoo ,MSN etc...

openSUSE includes Pidgin in it's standard install so it should be in the menu's somewhere. the advantage with using pidgin or gaim is that it can use a number of different protocols all at the same time so while you are happily chatting away using 1 program you could be chatting to people using all sorts of different programs that can't talk to each other but all can talk to you ;)
