AGP card problem?

Hello,
I recently bought nvidia geforce FX 5500 256 MB AGP card.It doesnot work on my PC.

Systm config:
P4 1.8 ghz , 512 mb ram,mercury board(p4m266a),via chipset,4X Agp slot onboard.

I do this..
Turnof computer,put agp card on agp slot,conect monitor cable into agp.while restarting i get nothng on my monitor.when i change monitor cable into onboard i get monitor output.

Did you boot into the BIOS to see if you need to change from onboard video to the AGP video? Some older motherboards do not automatically default to the AGP slot.
