Mic doesnt work

Hello,
i have toshiba satellite laptop, 3gb ram and 2.5 gb rom, intel celeron vista, now mic headphone works properly but my mic doesnt work at all, and i think that by mistake i deleted audio device, now in recording option it shows that no audio devices installed and wjen i go to the setting of control panel, it says that check your audio harware, and more over in the icon of speaker at the bottom of righthand side on screen, when i clci kfor mic option than i found that the icon of mic is missing from the recording option, where my other fried has that icon and his mic also works properly.............. so kindly guide me.
