here are the drivers for your computer
http://support.euro.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?c=uk&cs=ukdhs1&l=en&s=dhs&ServiceTag=&SystemID=DIM_PNT_P4_8200&os=WW1&osl=en&catid=&impid=

there's a catch, there are 11 drivers for audio. so you are going to need to try and identify your audio.
if you take a closer look at the case there may be a number called a service tag. this number may narrow down what is in your particular model.

also, have you checked in device manager for the sound card details?
is there a speaker icon in the task bar, bottom right?
if there is does it have a red diagonal line through it?
if the speaker icon is there, double click on it to check that it hasen't gotten mute set on.
ok I will try all these things out.thank you.
