How you put your system to hibernate? I think you have your HIbernating button configured to shutdown.
I mean i have my main power button for hibernation .. if i press it lightly it hibernates but if i press it for longer period of time it shuts down.
Just check your power options in the control panel

What hibernate basically does is to save everything you're doing on the hard disk and shut the computer down.
Then when you turn on the Desktop again, it loads up everything, returning your computer back to the state before it has shutdown.
