Hello,
SUPPOSE I HAVE A LIST OF MY EMPLOYEES IN WHICH THERE IS A ALSO COLOM FOR THEIR DATE OF BIRTH. I WANT TO MAKE MONTH WISE SORTING. CAN U TELL ME HOW GET MONTH NAME FROM A CELL VALUE LIKE 12/22/1985.

suppose the entry 12/21/09 is in A1
in B1 type this formula 
=month(A1)

you will give you 12
have a helper columns for e.g. column B and create the above formula for the first cell and then copy the formula down.

now highlight data and sort according to column B
do you get the hang of it????
