I have the same problem with my HP DV6000 about the screen being completely black. It works completely normally, functions correctly and everything, but I can't see anything unless I use a bright light, or flashlight, to see what's on the screen. I've been asking around for three months because taking it to a shop is an issue having no ride or a high enough income. I've tried everything everyone's suggested on here to many others but nothing's worked for me at all. Am I going to have to take it to a shop or get a new laptop? Because if that's the case, I'll never have my own computer again cause it's too expensive.
Thanks in advance to anyone who tries to help me. ^_^

This sounds like a problem with the "inverter" or "backlight" it would cost $100 to $150 to fix. You can attach an external monitor (15 - 17 CRT's a be bought used for $20-25) and bypass the problem.

Good Luck
