sound like the keyboard is faulty, if laptop plug usb keyboard in if desktop try new keyboard.

yes i have tried one it seems the keyboard is at fault but can it be fix? an IBM brand .

any standard keyboard will do, just make sure the connection is the same or purchase the adapter.

can't find a schematic but just open the case and trace the lines on the pcb from the faultas to the output and check if the are broken/damaged.
