Yes, u can put an Intel E8500 CPU on ur P5K MB.
To know if u need to flash the Bios tell the current Bios revision u can find during the Bios boot up http://support.asus.com/technicaldocuments/technicaldocuments.aspx?SLanguage=en-us&root=252
If ur Bios revsion is 803 or more u don't need
