I've got the same problem as you. My computer tries to install the device but fails.
I've read a little bit about this issue and i know the problem.
Either you've got a non-validated OS, you can not download & install MTP Porting Kit, which is needed for your system to be able to communicate with your Creative Zen V player. MTP should already be installed on your system if you're running on windows xp service pack 2 or 3.
Try updating your system. If your computer is still unable to detect your player or if you're running on vista or win7, download MTP Porting Kit from here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=A2E73160-E862-4F19-BB26-C0CAFE798955
I highly doubt, but restart if needed.
