Webcam not working

Hello,
my webcam will not work i have tried to install the software on the computer and i have tried from many ways, the disc and the shortcut on my desktop and also from the web. none of these work. i cannot figure out the problem and need this up by this weekend. the error message that comes up just says that it has encountered a problem and must close why it is not working i dunno
