Xp sp2 install problem

Hello,
I tried several times to install xp's sp 2 so I can set up windows wireless connection.
Each time the set up went 3/4 of the way then stopped with no error message other than
sp 2 cannot go any further.

This is with windows xp home edition oem

Please help.
