LG DVD writer not detects CDs

Hello,
i too use the lg DVD writer (3yrs of usage) works well till last month . now it reads all types of DVDs but no CDs . i tried using windows xp,windows vista, windows 7, ubundu linux and bootable live CDs and DVDs of these . the result is same.
