I did the partitions by installing new Vista first. And when i tried to install Windows XP, it said the same error
"Setup did not find any hard disk drives installed in your computer.
Make sure any hard disk drives are powered on and properly connected to your computer, and that any disk-related hardware configuration is correct. This may involve running a manufacturer - supplied diagnostic or setup program.

Windows XP does not have a driver for the advanced SATA controller on newer laptops. Hence the hard disk not found message. Please search this forum for solutions. Depending on the make and model you may be able to find instructions.
