My wireless works but not my ethernet?

Hello,
i have a toshiba sattelite l40-139 on windows vista and i want to play games over the internet but wireless isnt always permenantly connected so it looses the game connection
so i want to use my ethernet but it wont connect to the internet it will only be local?
if any one can help ill be soo greatfull

Sure, let's see what I can do.

Disable your wireless and start using ethernet.
Go to Start > Run > type in cmd and hit enter.
Then type in ping google.com

Tell me what it says.

it says
ping request could not find host google.com please check name and try again

Ok, so you aren't getting DNS resolution.

Try typing in this

ipconfig

and let me know what it says.

On the Ethernet adapter local area connection
It says the link-local ipv6 address and subnet mask and autoconfiguration ipv4 address but has nothing for the connection - specific dns suffix or default gateway

It also says media disconnected for all my tunnel adapter local area connections as well as my wireless network obviously

Where you typed your Ping in, did you type in ipconfig ? What did it say?

yes when i typed in ping google.com it said it couldnt connect or somethinggg
then wen i typed in ipconfig it said under the Ethernet adapter local area connection part
