Virus's tend to always start up when the computer does. So i advise you do this....
Start mentu - Run - type '' regedit '' - Click the (+) on HKEY_CURRENT_USER - Software - Microsoft - Windows - CurrentVersion - Run
Now on the right hand side, You will see a varie of Applications that start up when Windows does. msmmsg.exe = Msn Messenger etc. Some will you will notice. And some will be unfamiliar to you. I suggest you post back here what you see. And either i or somebody else will advise you what is corrupt here.
Also do the same in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.

To be honist, I suggest you Download, Spybot Search and Destroy, AVG & Adaware. All free downloads from Google, Very affective :)
