Can't open any CD's

Hello, I can't open any CD's and in 'My Computer' the CD isn't shown at all instead it shows the local disk and the folders within it.
I'm using Windows XP professional if its helpful.

1/ go on manage look drive. if present give drive name as g. 2/ if not work change data cable and power cable one by one to check . thanks
