Hello,
My computer is an hp w2007 with windows 7. I am having trouble with my cd/dvd rom. I cann't locate it under the computer list. I can however go to the media player but it won't let me burn cd's or play them. It keeps saying that its not hooked up, missing or corrupted code 39. Please help me. Much appreciated.

Hello,

Try this 1

Click on Start --> In search box, type regedt32 and press "Enter"

Registry editor will be opened.

Backup your registry by going to File --> Export and save the file with any name.

Now on the left side, navigate to the location

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE --> SYSTEM --> CurrentControlSet --> Control

----> Class ---> Click on {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

At right side delete these files if u find it

upper filters,lower filters,upper filters.bak,lower filters.bak and then restart your

PC.

Good Luck.

jack4rall, You have saved my sanity. Thank you profusely. I was on the verge of disassembling my DV2000 because I thought I had already deleted the upper and lower filters, but I decided to give it one more web search and it turns out I must have deleted upper and lower filters in a different directory, because I punched up the one you listed and there they were. Upon deleting and restarting, there was my beloved E:/ drive in all it's glory... reading and writing again. Thank you.
