Water damage to lap top needs what fixing??

Hello,
i have a sony laptop, and one time as i was chatting with my friend on facebook i accidently spilled very little water onto the keyboards, then a minute after i had wiped the water off the lap top, it suddenly shut off..... what can i do to fix it?
since im guessing it's internally damaged does that mean i have to ask the repair men to repair the motherboard or wht else would it be????
please help... im a student and i cannot afford to pay big buck for lap top repair and the diagnosis for most repair places are crazy!!
