Hello,

I have a Dell Vostro running Windows 7 - and I am having issues getting the power cable to connect.

I know my battery isn't at it's best and doesn't hold much of a charge but I don't think that is the issue.

If you just plug the power cable into the laptop - it's not connecting. However, if you push it in with some force and at an angle it does connect. It sometimes connects to let me run just off the power cable, and occassionally connects to charge the battery.

Sometimes, no matter what angle I am pushing the cable in it just won't connect at all.

Just about to buy a new AC power adaptor but before I start spending money I wondered if this was a common issue, can't seem to find any help on this anywhere.

Thanks

Hello,

Try this 1

Before buying a new power adapter, first make sure that problem is not coming

because of the power adapter. It could also be the power jack contact on the

motherboard.

First check the power adapter. Check the ends of the power cable wire.

Remove the battery from the laptop. Connect the power cable to the laptop and

try to switch ON your laptop. If its fails to turn ON your laptop, constantly press

the power ON button by jiggling the ends of the power cable adapter wire.

You can also check the output voltage to confirm if the problem is coming from

the power adapter or not.

Good Luck
