I'm having problems with I-tunes on my Vista.

Hii, I downloaded I-tunes on apple.com and it says you can put it alos on Vista, wich my computer IS a vista. Then it all downloaded and stuff and it now says there's a problem with it, it doesnt want to open. ): Help!!!

Ps. My friend gave me the I pod as a gift and she said you only have to downloaded from apple.com I tunes, but now I tunes doesnt work so it sucks. ): I asked if she had a cd for it, she said no.): Please Help (:
