Downgraded from vista to xp, but not good.

Hello,
Downgraded from vista on (brand new computer) think pad lap top but has not been working good at all - My question is I backed up the computer before downgrading (have vista recovery disks) is it possible to use my vista recovery disks and reinstall vista.
