All lost after factory restore

Hello, so ive come home to find my kid has pressed a button somewhere which has made the computer restore to factory settings. We had alot of stuff on the computer which seems to no longer be there. I have looked everywhere but cannot find anything...also the system restore will only restore back to when these bad changes were made...can anyone help please.
