of course. It all depends on what your PC can support. If your laptop originally supports 2GB of RAM, you would be able to achieve up to 3GB. It is better though that you put two chips of 2GB as dual core processors work smoother if RAM is "mirrored" - i.e. two times of the same chip installed.
