Hello,

Today I decided to put more ram in my gateway DX4200-09 desktop. I turned it off, unplugged it then inserted the new ram into the empty slots. After I put it in, I plugged it back in and started it up, it started up but there is a loud buzz that wont stop and the screen is blank. Does anyone know what the problem might be?
Thanks

Turn everything back off, unplug the PC, and check ram to make sure you properly seated all modules. Many times the modules will seem like they popped in, but the best way to make sure is to check the little lock-in tabs on each side of the memory modules and make sure they are completely locked-in.

According to the specs, it looks like your system memory specs are the following:
Max Memory: 4GB
Configuration: 2 x 2 GB
Type: DDR2 800MHz PC2-6400

Did you buy the correct memory?
