DVD drive not reading files

Hello,

My laptop shows DVD empty whereas same DVD is showing folders in another laptop, i have reinstalled all drivers, even then not working.
I am using windows Vista home premium

i am not able to get help from HP on website, pl provide help how to solve the problem.

Optical drives fail when dust collects on the LED or the mechanical LED arm fails. Does the laptop play DVD movies or CDs from other computers? Does the laptop record and play back files that it has written? Sometimes DVD are written slightly out of specifications on one computer and can't be read by another slightly of of spec DVD drive.

I have cleaned drive with alcool, even nthen it is not reading DVD burned at another laptop, I have nor burned any DVD on my laptop

I have same problem, nobody in this world know solution. I searched all over. bad luck.
