Ipod5 not working

k so my ipod was working just fine like 30 minutes ago i've had it sence march and it's been perfect until i broke the main button "menu button" whatever you wanna call it. i just thought it was dead so i put it on charge waiting for the apple thingy to pop up.. it never did so i tried turning it on nothing then i plugged it into my computer still nothing so i looked up how to fix it ..hold the menu/main button for 10 seconds well clearly i cant... if my mom finds out its broken she'll kill me please help me!!!
