Epson Pro 4880 error message 0001001EClosed

Question

I have an Epson stylus Pro 4880 which has decided to quit. Whenever I turn it on the paper feed roller runs continuously and I get a message saying 'Service Req. 0001001E'

I have contacted Epson Support but could as well not have bothered. They tell me the printer needs a service, that they do not offer support over the phone or via email, and that I need to contact my nearest service rep. which happens to be in Venezuela. As I am in Barbados and don't speak Spanish that will be another complete waste of time. Doe anybody out there know what the message refers to and what if anything can be done to rectify it?

So you no habla espanol !  Me neither !

You will probably need to replace either the PF motor or the mainboard, but it is worth removing the left cover and checking the encoder around the motor and the related sensor for any obvious signs of dirt or damage

I will look under the cover and see what I can find. In the event that I do need to replace parts do you have any idea where I might be able to source them?
