Hello,

I wanted to convert some XviD video files to avi. After searching online, I downloaded a couple programs including handbrake, but each one diminishes the quality, which is out of my expectation. Is there any program that can convert xvid to avi without any lose in sound or picture quality? Please recommend some program that can work on Mac Mountain Lion. Thanks!

first, you can't convert/encode something without lessening the quality ..
second, with handbrake, using it the right way will result in a fair or even great video quality ..
third, xvid is a codec, it's not a file type(video type) a .AVI file can have Xvid codec inside ..

if your want superior quality switch to H.264 codec (.mp4 or .mkv) ..

lastly, i suggest you use XviD4PSP .. it's very easy to use ..

note: "using it the right way" meaning advance settings

GoodLuck ..

There is absolutely no loss in sound or video quality.

The quality and speed of conversion is key factors. There is a suitable program on "iappflow" to convert to .avi and the detailed step is here:

What's more, it supports video editing.
