Screen turns on makes a beep and darkens up

when i turn on my dell inspiron 1525 laptop my screen turns on with the dell emblem. then it makes a beeping sound and goes black. once it is booted up all the way it will flash my login screen, make another beep and then it darkens up. i can see vague outlines on the screen but can't make the screen brighter. what is wrong with my screen please? thanks

This looks like a problem with the "backlight" or the "inverter" that powers the backlight. Either problem requires a qualified tech to open up the laptop and replace the components. I suggest you take the laptop to a local repair shop.
