Not able to burn CD

Hello,
I have a windows xp pc, recently I had a problem with burning cd on windows media player. I can play songs, downloading datas from CD but cant burn songs. when I insert cd in the rom my computer is not recognising the cd. I repeatedly did the same thing, still somputer says to insert the cd. I did burn several songs with the same cd before.
