Hello,
i have a dell desktop and i have windows home edition on it service pack 2. I have an old version of windows xp professional (with service pack 1) that i want to install and update but my computer won't allow me to run it while os is running because "cd is too old of a version". So i try to restart my computer and boot off of it and it doesn't work no matter what i do, i already fixed my boot order, try to boot off direclty from it but it just won't give me the option (press any key to boot from cd.) to begin reformating and reloading my computer.
WHAT DO I DO?!?!?!?!?!??!? HELP

hi,
try to disable the Boot from hard disk option and then try again.
if it is not allowing you to boot either, try to get the Windows XP Pro SP2 CD and then try again.
