Want cells to show e.g. £100.00 when there is a value

Hello,

I'm using Excel 2007 and I want cells to show e.g. £100.00 when there is a value but when there is no value I want the cell to show nothing, no £ symbol because at the moment I have numerous cells showing only a £ symbol with no value next to it. How do I do this? Thanks in advance.

What formatting do you have applied to the cell(s)?
