Hello,
Go to RUN
type MSCONFIG press OK
go to "boot"
As a safe precaution i would set the timeout to 1 second and ensure that the 8.1 is set as your default. Otherwise:-
delete the Windows 8 entry from there (Not the 8.1).
Once booted to 8.1 - Right click on the D: drive and go to properties
go to security
go to advanced
click "Change Permissions"
at the top where it says owner, press "Change"
configure it with your user account.

did you get rid of the issue of Windows asking which installation you wanted to boot to?
