I have recently completed reinstalling my windows 7 operating system after being infested .My question is which security program to choose, and is it necessary to buy the service, or is there a free version that provides adequate protection ?

Choose any FREE ANTI-VIRUS you prefer that is good, my personal opinion is go for Avast, Avira, Bit-Defender and F-secure. Also Install Malwarebytes for scanning of malwares(Run it once a week is preferable). But do not use more than one Anti-virus at a time.
