Battery drainage

I have had a Nokia 2330 Classic for the last six years. It has never gone wrong, until now. Just lately if I receive a phone call the battery drains itself. This happens irrespective of whether I take the call or if I allow it to go to voicemail.
Does this mean that the battery needs replacement or is there some other and possibly more serious problem?

I would assume that the battery would need replacement after 6 years.
