Computer cant read blank Dvd/Cd

hey,
my computer cant read blank Dvd/Cd and can read dvd's which have media on it
is there any solution for this problem

If they are blank, there is nothing to read.

my computer cannot detect if there is a dvd in it

If you try to burn it, does it say "insert disk"?
