Good evening CCM folks,

I am currently wrapping up a project utilizing excel as a WIP History management system. I have all of the necessary components for barcode entry (which I developed in Excel), including a macro-enabled spreadsheet (Thanks to you guys!) to keep an account of all scanned entries.

I purchased a cheap Wonenice Barcode Scanner in order to test capabilities, but it would not scan an 18-digit barcode; which is crucial for this project to get off of the ground.

What kind of Scan gun do I need in order to scan an 18-digit barcode?
How do I format entries to the exact criteria that I need?

Thank you for any information that you are able to provide!

Man, unless you want to buy one of these, it is tough to find support. I did find the universal code name for an 18 digit code - ean-18.

I see that that scanner has capabilites of: Code11, Code39, Code93, Code32, Code128, Coda Bar, UPC-A, UPC-E,EAN-8, EAN-13, JAN.EAN/UPC Add-on2/5 MSI/Plessey, Telepen and China Postal CodeInterleaved 2 of 5, Industrial 2 of 5, Matrix 2 of 5.

Of course the ean-18 is not one of them. All things are possible if you know the requirements, and now you know that you have a requirement of ean-18 reading!

It appears to point me in the direction of 'gs1-128' barcode scanners. Is that a reasonable assessment?
