HDMI through DVI through VGA

Hello, I have a little question for you, I want to plug my PS3 with my PC monitor, which is in DVI and VGA. I saw on the Internet that there was HDMI -> DVI cables, and I think this could work, if I plug the HDMI plug into the DVI plug of my monitor, but the thing I'm not sure, is with my other PC monitor, which only have a VGA plug, so, if I buy a VGA adaptor, will it works? because it's my only concern, for the sound, I already have a toslink (optical) cable, for my sound system, which I can use with the PS3 and the PC monitor, and I have the logitech game console adaptor, so I'm ok. Just say what you think, I'll listen :D
