Computer Help RAM

Hello, i have a dell dimension 5100 and i just bought a PNY 1gb of ram for a upgrade. I really dont know anything about computer but this is what happen i put in my RAM into my slot when i boot it up the screen doesn't display and it make this beeping noise. At first i got scared and i try to reboot it again. The same thing happen. i put it in another slot same. But then i took of the RAM and booted and it worked! it like the RAM is like broken so i need help...

The RAM may not be broken - it may just not work with your computer. Find some friend that KNOWS more about computer and ask them to help.
