i used ASUS laptop, this morning when i turn on it prompts with windows\system32\config\system\ (missing or corrupt file). i first used windows xp home edition cd but when i tried to press "r" for repair i was prompted with a password. i again tried this time using recovery disk (windows xp professional sp2) i was chose recovery from the first HDD partition (for maybe all i knew, i'm just repairing it). files were being copied or maybe back-up but while doing it i was prompted with BOOT SECTOR virus (continue Y/N) i press Y to continue. after the copying (or repairing as i thought), the next thing prompt to my laptop is the installing process in Windows Xp. in short, i have now a fresh installed XP Pro SP2...
my question now;
1. is there a way, that i could still recover the previous file?
2. as i try to connect it to the network as well, i was able to connect to the internet and ping other IP address (via LAN) but when i open My Network Places i couldn't see any member from the workgroup that i belong.
