Do you want to take a screenshot in WhatsApp and it doesn't work? Here's how to fix it
WhatsApp has a new feature that fans of taking screenshots will not like.
You have noticed that recently many WhatsApp users have begun to pay more attention to the content they share, especially of a personal nature such as photos, that we send in the messenger. Messenger has already introduced a number of measures that are designed to give us more control over the messages we send, such as blocking private chats or the ability to send photos and videos that self-destruct after a single viewing and which are also protected from screenshots. Now WhatsApp has taken a more radical measure, which may not appeal to those who are used to taking screenshots.
WhatsApp has introduced a new feature that prevents users from taking screenshots of other contacts' profile photos. The purpose of this measure is to protect users' privacy and prevent third parties from using their profile photos to impersonate them or commit fraud on WhatsApp. The new feature is now available to some users of the WhatsApp beta version for Android 2.24.4.25 and is gradually becoming available to more and more users all over the world. You may have already noticed the change and are unable to take screenshots of your profile pictures.
Screenshot lock is activated on Android when you tap on a contact's profile photo. If you try to take a screenshot, you will receive the message "The screenshot cannot be saved due to application restrictions." You will only be able to take screenshots if you have rooted rights.
However, as some users have noticed, you can still take screenshot of the mini popup that appears when you tap on a contact's display photo from the chat list. This way you can still get the profile's picture. In addition, this protection for taking a screenshot of your profile picture won't stop people from using another phone's camera to take photos. It is also very easy to save a contact's profile photo using WhatsApp Web. This is an issue that developers will have to address next.
If you don't know which version of WhatsApp is currently installed on your device, it's pretty easy to look it up. Follow these steps to check your version of the messanger:
- Log into the app and click on the three-dot menu in the top right corner. There, select the "Settings" tab.
- Subsequently, in the "Settings" menu, tap the "Help" option.
- From the "Help" menu, click the "App info".
- Finally, after selecting "App info", you will see the version of WhatsApp you are using.
