ESPN (Entertainment and Sports Programming Network; former watch ESPN) is an American television network for sports. It is multinational and broadcast in over 200 countries, with around 86 million subscribed households in the United States only. The channel was founded in 1979 by Bill Rasmussen, Scott Rasmussen and Ed Egan. Today, ESPN is owned jointly by The Walt Disney Company (that owns ESPN Inc.) and Hearst Communications. In this article, we discuss the main features of the ESPN app, as well as some additional information.

Key Features
Here are some of ESPN main features:
- Live games: with ESPN, you can watch numerous live games on-demand in HD quality and follow live-scores.
- Enjoy again: with this app, you can replay your favourite games but also watch videos of the highlights.
- Personalize: with the ESPN app, you can personalize your experience and choose your favourite sports, leagues, teams, but also set up reminders !
- User-friendly: the app will guide you through the intuitive interface.
How Does ESPN Work?
The ESPN app is pretty intuitive. Once you download it, it will ask you your favourite sports, leagues and teams to personalize your experience. After that, you will have to choose your TV provider and enter your associated username and password. You will be able to access content applicable to the channels to which you subscribe. If you don’t have cable, you can subscribe to an ESPN+ plan. You can follow live games, set reminders for upcoming events, or watch a replay.

Is ESPN Safe?
The ESPN app does not have a history of security issues and seems to be safe for kids.
Is ESPN Free?
You can download the ESPN app for free. However, you need to pay for a cable TV provider, or subscribe for an ESPN Plus plan that is $5.99 a month/$59 annually.
ESPN Controversy
ESPN has been a subject to controversy, in reference with overcovering men’s leagues to the detriment of women’s leagues (namely, when it comes to the NHL). Other subjects of controversy concern the exportation of their content, as well as conflicts of interest with other broadcasters.
System Requirements
In order to run ESPN on your Android device, you need Android 5.0 and up and iOS 13.0 and watchOS 3.0 or later for Apple users. It is compatible with iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Apple TV, and other devices (see the image below).
